The Menyie Trio

Lauren and Amy first met in Scottish Opera, where Amy is Principal Oboe and Lauren, Third Horn. Sharing a great love of chamber music, they were joined by Hebba - a recent piano graduate of the Royal Scottish Conservatoire who also has extensive chamber music experience.

Amy is an award-winning chamber musician and has guested as Principal Oboe with all of the Scottish-based orchestras, as well as many around the UK. She also lecturers at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Hebba, now a Master’s student at the Conservatoire, has performed as part of many music festivals across the globe, including the Aurora Chamber Music Festival in Sweden, the Lammermuir Festival, the Forum Musikae Academia International de Música in Madrid and the BBC Proms with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra/NYOS. Lauren freelances regularly throughout Scotland with orchestras including BBC Scottish Symphony, Royal Scottish National Orchestra and Scottish Ballet and, prior to her position in Scottish Opera, worked as Principal Horn in the Mittelsaechsische Philharmonie in Germany.

As a trio, they have a vast range of experience and take great pleasure in bringing the lesser-known works for horn, oboe and piano to venues around Scotland.

The Brassketeers

Jason, Lauren and Cillian first met in the Orchestra of Scottish Opera. They each joined the Orchestra within six months of each other, Cillian and Jason as principal players and Lauren as 3rd horn.  Jason has subsequently moved to the Royal Scottish National Orchestra where he is now associate principal trumpet. Between them they have worked with many orchestras, both nationally and internationally. The list of orchestras includes the Philharmonia, Liverpool Philharmonic, the Ulster Orchestra, many of the BBC Orchestras, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Mittelsächsische Philharmonie and the World Orchestra for Peace. The Brassketeers was formed two years ago as a way for Lauren, Jason and Cillian to express themselves further as players and chamber musicians. As the group has grown and developed, so has their passion for bringing this unusual, and very seldom heard combination of instruments to a wider audience. Currently the group are working alongside the education department of Scottish Opera to create an interactive performance for schools, and are determined to give more people the opportunity to hear this ensemble and the exciting music composed for it.
