me

Lauren is currently third horn in the orchestra of Scottish Opera, as well as a highly successful freelance musician, playing regularly with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra and Scottish Ballet, where she often plays first horn. Lauren began her studies at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and whilst there was selected to perform Mozart’s 4th horn Concerto with Sir Colin Davis in the Barbican. She then moved to Europe, studying Vienna Horn in Austria for one year with Hector McDonald, before moving to Germany to complete an MA and a Meisterklasse in orchestral and solo performance with Professor Christian Dallmann.

 

Whilst abroad she held the position of First Horn with the Mittelsaechsische Philharmonie in Freiberg and freelanced regularly with many of the local professional orchestras. During her time in Austria she was selected to work alongside members of the Vienna Philharmonic as part of their prestigious Youth Orchestra project. 

 

Alongside her orchestral work Lauren is a member of many chamber groups, including Lomond Brass, who recently won first prize in the Bucharest International Music Competition. Lauren is passionate about finding ways to make classical music accessible to everyone and works with her various chamber groups to promote these ideals
